The Gaerne GX1 is the entry-level Italian-made range — a boot for hobby riders and weekend riding that doesn't compromise on the essential thing, which is foot protection. The side section is split by a half-joint, a detail that shows up in durability: the boot doesn't keep flexing in the same spot, so it lasts considerably longer than straight cheap boots from a hypermarket. The toe and ankle are reinforced, and the buckle closure adjusts to your leg. It's a sensible choice if you ride a couple of weekends a month and don't want to spend as much on boots as half a suspension service. Anyone riding regularly and hard should rather go for the Fastback. Made in Italy.
